Offered to high school students who wish to experience a different
environment and get a better understanding about life in Brazil.

Who can apply: Students between 15 to 18 years old.

Activities: Students will attend private or public schools. The school system in Brazil encompasses 12 years of education. There will be a compulsory curriculum of 8 to 10 subjects per year that all students must follow: Students will be designated to a class level by a school counselor, attend all classes and meet the same classmates everyday. Typical curriculum of a Brazilian school: Portuguese, Math, Biology, Chemistry, History, Geography, Physics and Physical education.

Term: One academic year or semester. Academic year begins in March, but August arrivals are also acceptable.

You are invited to experience the value of intercultural communication, to develop and practice a new foreign language and to take the opportunity of developing leadership as well as to actively take part in your host community activities.

Who can apply: Adults between 18 to 30 years old.

Activities: Volunteer work on internship basis at NGO or governmental projects. Family homestay is provided in most of the cases but participants can also be placed at the project.
People with no basic knowledge of Portuguese have two weeks of language studies upon arrival in Rio de Janeiro . During these first two weeks, as a complement to the language classes, orientation is provided and visits to NGO and/or lectures about Community Service in Brazil are offered.

Term: March and August.
