Encompasses the states of Acre, Amazonas. Rondônia, Roraima, Amapá, Tocantins and Pará. The Amazon, with its exuberant tropical rain forest, the largest in the world, and full of mystery, is the ideal setting for river fishing, tree top tourism. It is a Mecca for botanic and scientific exploration and for observing the flora and fauna. Surfists from different parts of the World come to enjoy river surfing during the pororoca season (January to May).

The birthplace of many of Brazilian poets, writers and intellectuals, past and present, the region is steeped in history and folklore that tourists flock to. The Carnival of Olinda (Pernambuco) and Salvador are unforgettable experiences. The Easter pageant at Nova Jerusalem (Pernambuco) is an experience that no one will ever forget. Due to the fact that Rio de Janeiro was, for centuries, the administrative and political capital of the colonial days, the Empire and the Republic. The region is steeped in history, the crown jewels being, other than Rio itself, possibly one of the world's most naturally beautiful cities, Petrópolis (RJ), with its Imperial past, Ouro Preto (an UN´s Humanity Patrimonial city), the epitome of colonial architecture and São Paulo, modern, cosmopolitan, one of the finest gastronomic centers in the world and the economic centre of South America. Includes the states of Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina . With European and urban inluences, it is renowned for the folklore of its German, Italian, Polish and Azorean immigrants. One of Brazil's Meccas for radical sports, the region is renowned for its natural parks, of which Iguaçu Falls is the crown jewel, and it is becoming one of South America's best wine growing areas. This is the region that you may scorch in Summer and “freeze” in Winter, temperatures may drop to below 0°C.
