This program is held in National Parks, managed by the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (IMCBIO), which is linked to the Ministry of Environment. ICMBIO is incumbent upon it to promote and execute programs of research, protection, preservation, and conservation of biodiversity and to exercise the power of environmental police for the protection of federal Conservation Units. Its mission is to protect natural heritage and promote socio-environmental development.

There is an enormous range of activities that the international volunteers can take in the national parks. They can be engaged in the following thematic areas:

  • environmental research and monitoring;
  • environmental protection;
  • social-environmental management;
  • land regularization;
  • management;
  • public use and business.

The volunteer may choose the area that best fits their personal interest and profile, but it is possible that the national park will offer a different area, depending on its most urgent needs. All details can be negotiated.

These parks are composed of incredible natural landscapes, and each year they receive thousands of tourists looking for a good trekking and professionals engaged in high-level researches.
